The Educational, Cultural and Enrichment Programs:
The health and economic stability of marginalized and underserved youth and families residing in the City of Norwich have been negatively impacted for the past two years due to Covid-19. Many of our families face day to day challenges with food, housing and transportation insecurity and therefore many of our youth cannot afford the opportunities to attend quality enrichment programs to help them explore career opportunities during the summer. The Exploration to PropelProgram will provide marginalized and underserved middle school aged youth with opportunities to participate in enrichment programs that focus on increasing youth participation in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers.
The Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy is an FAA sponsored program in over 30 states. This program is a weeklong day camp for youth entering grades 6th – 9th at the Mystic Jet Center located at the Groton/New London Airport in August and is led by the Director/Teacher Stuart Sharack and staff. The objective is to engage selected students in aviation and focus on creating the next generation of aerospace professionals. The goal is to expand gender and racial diversity opportunities to provide equity for all in the aviation related careers.
